Wearing High Heels Comfortably
Wear High Heels Without Pain I have loved wearing high heels, and have wanted to wear them since seeing my mother strap on a pair of black pointy-toed Christian Dior slingbacks for a "date" with my father. The memory is still fresh; a petite hazel-eyed brunette, form-fitting black dress, pearls, red lipstick...and those shoes. A vision etched in my mind that compelled me to be in high heels whenever possible. Instant woman. And the angle makes my calves and thighs look toned and longer. All of the reasons are good; the problem is the pain I have in the balls of the feet. Apparently wearing high heels long enough wears down the natural padding in the balls of the feet. I can only tolerate heels for short periods; walking city streets or standing for long periods? I have to choose between looking good or feeling good. And there is something about parting with my heels that feels like Cinderella after the stroke of midnight: back to frump-land. Having tried different pads I found at the drugstore, I was frustrated. They either didn't stay in place, or didn't work with my shoes, or didn't even feel good. Imagine my surprise when I learned about Foot Pillows. This is great news! Doctors have discovered that Sculptra, a polylactic acid originally used as a skin filler in the face, is great for plumping up foot pads. Sculptra's action is very safe; there are no allergic-type limitations for its use. It acts by irritation; collagen builds up in response to it. The effects can last for over a year, and women exclaim it's like having pillows under their feet. Hence the nickname "Foot Pillows". Now the search is on for a podiatrist who will do this!
